Article

As mentioned before in a post I have been working in a project with a turkish school and as our last project we gave them a questionaire so they could complete it after they answered, here it is the article:

The aim of this article is to clear the answers of the “Form A” questionnaire, in which we have done some questions with the intention to see how different are our cultures.

The participant were two schools one turkish and one basque. The participants were between the 14 and 16 years old and they answered question about: School, religion, food, hobbies etc…

School:

We can say that all participants wake up around 7 AM to go to school. Here start the first difference, the basques students start school at 8 o'clock while the turkish school starts at 9 o'clock, also the finish of the school is also different the basques finishes at half past 4 while the turkish finishes at 4 o’clock. After school all the students do almost the same extra school activities.

Exercise:

All the participant do exercise during the week, but not the same amount of time, we put some options and all were almost chosen in the same time that options were: 1-3h, 4-6h and 7-10h.

Social media:

The same occurs with this topic all the participant agreed saying that they spend time in social media and they choose some options, and all the options were almost chosen the same times, the options were the same as in “exercise”.

Alimentation:

We asked to the participant how many times they have a meal in the day the answer went from 2 times to 5 times depending the participants. The most of the basque said 5 times but because they counted the appetizer and the snack. The most turkish said 3 times,  because the same reason, I suppose. Almost all the participants are omnivorous (they eat all kind of food).

Religion:

Some basques said that they are religious but almost all said that they aren’t religious, as well as, all the turkish said that they are religious. Obviously the basque said that they don’t pray, but the turkish, obviously, said that yes, and they pray, in their houses or in the mosque.

Friends:

The questioned people said that they normally go out with the same group of friend, and the times that they meet their friends are the same, but here is the first differences, the basque student doesn’t have a mixed group of friend their only boys or only girls, when the turkish has a mixed group of friend.

In conclusion our cultures are similar but there are some differences that separates our minds.

Project in Twinspace

This month, we are working in two different project in eTwinning. The eTwinning action is an initiative of the European Commission that aims to encourage European schools to collaborate using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by providing the necessary infrastructure (online tools, services, support). Therefore, teachers registered in the eTwinning action are enabled to form partnerships and develop collaborative, pedagogical school projects in any subject area with the sole requirements to employ ICT to develop their project and collaborate with teachers from other European countries (at least two teachers from two different European countries are needed). The primary workspace for the eTwinning action, is the eTwinning Portal (www.etwinning.net) and it is available in twenty-five languages. How I said we are working in two different projects, counting both there are schools from  Lithuania, Slovakia, Italy, Turkey etc... In total we are 10 teachers and around of 120 students. But If you want to know in the first project we are working with a turkish school and in the other with a Lituanian, Slovakian, Italyan, Turkish, and Spanish schol.

We are going to be learning about the participating country's and them culture, we are chatin with the students, asking for information and answering with information.

We actually have just started so I can't tell more thing but I will wirte anothe post with more information. Because this project looks amazing and I have such a desire to work but we have a enormous problem that in the start we didn't notice, the hour, In all the country's is a different hour so is difficult chat in the same time. But this will not stop us from studying other cultures.
